Pricing

Prices

The guides and five planning tools are free. A planning session costs £360 and a written website plan costs £780, both plus VAT where applicable. A website build is priced by a fixed written quote, agreed before any deposit.

What is free

Reading the guides, using the tools, downloading the text files they produce and sending us a question by email cost nothing. Replying to an enquiry costs nothing and commits you to nothing; the reply says whether we could help. For a build, the first reply tells you only whether we could take the job on; if preparing the quote itself carries a fee, that fee is agreed in writing before any work begins.

The written website plan

The written website plan is for people who want more than a summary of a call. After a 90 minute call and a look at your notes, you receive a document with the page list and a short brief for each page, a feature list sorted into must have, later and not needed with a question for builders under each, a checklist of the content to gather, and a budget outline built line by line from figures you supply. It costs £780 plus VAT where applicable, and like the session summary it is yours to take to any builder.

How a build is priced

A build price depends on the number of pages, the features, who writes the content and how much of it already exists. For that reason there is no price list for builds. Instead, a quote is written from your plan, listing the pages, features and payment stages. The price is fixed in writing before you pay a deposit, and it changes only if the scope changes and the change is agreed in writing.

If you want to get a feel for the figures before asking anyone, the budget estimator lets you put in your own day rate and hours and see where the money would go.

Payment

For a planning session or written plan, payment is due before the call. For a build, a 40 percent deposit is due when you accept the quote and the balance at launch. Invoices are payable within 14 days. The terms set out cancellation of planning sessions.

Questions about prices

Is the written website plan the same as the planning session?

No. The session is a call followed by a summary of what was agreed. The written plan goes further: a brief for each page, a feature list with questions for builders, a content checklist and a budget outline, prepared after the call.

Do I have to use you to build the site after a session?

No. The plan is yours and is written so that any builder can quote from it.

Why is there no price for a small website?

Two sites with the same number of pages can differ a lot in features and content. A fixed quote from your plan is more useful than a guess.
