Plans by business

Website plans by type of business

Each type of business needs a different website, because its customers ask different questions before they buy. Pick the page closest to your business to see which pages, features and UK rules to plan for, then write your own version in the planner.

How these pages are built

Every page in this section follows the same order as the planner: the job the site has to do, the questions customers ask, the pages that answer them, the features those pages need, and the rules that apply. Where a UK rule is involved, such as the extra care needed for health information or the details a shop must show, the page links to the official source.

The pages describe what to plan, not what to buy. None of them recommends a particular platform, theme or supplier, and none quotes a price for building a site of that type, because that depends on the scope you decide.

If your business is not listed

Choose the page whose customers behave like yours. A dog groomer sits closer to a salon than to a shop; a tutor taking bookings for lessons sits close to the booking page; an architect or bookkeeper fits the consultants page. The planning questions are the same everywhere: what must the site do, for whom, and what has to be on it for that to happen.

Getting help with your plan

Two paid services are listed here as well. A planning session is a video call that ends with a written summary of the decisions; a written website plan, described on the pricing page, goes further. A build quote prices a website built from a plan you already have. Both are optional, and the commercial interest behind them is described in the note at the foot of the page.
